PhD and aesthetics specialist, Sara Guindani is the adjunct scientific director of the Global Studies School at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (House of Human Sciences Foundation, FMSH). She created and directs the program Politiques des images (Politics of Images) at the FMSH in Paris and teaches art theory at the University of Paris 8, Saint Denis. Her research focuses on the arts, philosophy and psychoanalysis, and notably the relation between images and writing in the process of recalling memories. She has worked in this capacity on the work of Marcel Proust and on the influence that it had on contemporary philosophical thought (Merlau-Ponty, Deleuze, Barthes).
Among her publications, Lo stereoscopio de Proust: Pittura, fotografia e fantasmagoria nella research (Mimesis, 2015). She has also directed several works on the relationships between literature and photography, among them Effetti di verità: documenti e immagini tra storia e finzione (con M. Piazza, Roma TrE-Press, 2016). She has translated many essays on philosophy and art theory from French to Italian.
